I am experimenting with HDR images again, lately. I find them most fascinating. But up until this week I haven't been able to create any HDR pictures that would satisfy me. That changed when I found Luminance HDR 2.1.0 a free, open soure software for HDR editing.
The results are quite amazing, I think:

The developers of Luminance HDR really made some improvements to their software. Prior to the 2.x version it was considerably harder to achieve a good result. That changed definitely. And as I said: it's open source, so it's free (free as in beer AND free as in freedom). Just try it. All the images I submitted this week where made by feeding the software a single NEF file (which is Nikon's raw image format) and applying a tonemap filter (mostly fattal). It's that easy. One could call the software Awesomify. If you like it, consider to donate to the project. In my eyes, they have earned it.
